How to read: On the subject of the grammar of Perception, Hee-seung Lee recently presented her work in a two-person exhibition at Space Daon.
Exhibition Introduction
In life, we read a lot. To know something, to understand something, to read the text, the context, and anything that lies before your eyes. “Reading” is fundamentally an act of seeking clarity in order to understand the meaning of the object, but the “reading method” that the artists Hee-seung Lee and Hyeon-joo Jo are trying to show through this exhibition shakes that clarity and knows it again, it is to return to the state of being unable to, ironically.
How to meet Pessoa
The space of poetry has the strictness of being filled only with the letters and blank spaces chosen by the author. As I read the translated poem, I feel the joy of having the opportunity to figure out the meaning even in this way and the regret that I cannot reach the essence of it forever. I try to write a poem in Portuguese for the first time in my life. It’s too hard to just follow through, word by word. Pessoa’s gleaming black abyss, I couldn’t even get close to it.

The layers piled up by writing, erasing, writing and erasing are flat and dry. I want to turn around irresponsibly, leaving only the beautiful blue leaves behind. I want to bury the fact that today’s loneliness, loss, and sadness are not my own heavy burdens, but our tears that flow through the times forever. During the day, I want to paint a dark night where I can drink the tears of a sleeping bird, avoiding the intense energy of noon that devours a moth. Even if no one has returned after leaving a long way, I want to leave their traces here forever.
