Lee YoungAe works under the big theme of ‘origin’. She wants to show a journey finding the origin of human beings in visual language as a human sensibility communicator.

For her works, Lee YoungAe uses a combination of Eastern and Western styles and materials such as canvas, hanji (the Korean paper), sumi ink, acrylic paint, japanning, etc. With a rich sensibility of techniques, she is interested in showing “sympathy through painting”. She often uses circles, straight lines, and oblique lines in her works.

For a canvas work (the Western style), mixed materials are continuously painted on a certain pattern of painting to form an even thickness. She defines as “a long term project that requires high-density, and repetitive labor”.

The sumi ink on hanji (the Korean paper) work (the Eastern style) is where a brush spreads the ink, and adds repetition of the big large dots by using the splash of the ink.

Lee YoungAe’s first NFT series is “Origin 1st series.” The series has a mix of her Eastern and Western style of works. Below are the descriptions of each artwork.

- Leopard Flower: The leopard’s print seen on the “Animal Kingdom,” a program that Lee saw when she was young, felt like a flower.

- Giraffe Flower: A giraffe seen on the “Animal Kingdom,” a program that Lee saw when she was young, is chewing petals in the gentle spring breeze.

- Queen: The Lady first who respects women is symbolically expressed as a queen and put in a number 1 frame.

- King: The powerful power of men is symbolically expressed as a king and put in a thumbs up frame.

- Origin 1 & 2: The circles represent the spiritual practice or prayer of stacking stones or the essential image of human beings.

This series is limited to a total of 35 editions for each work. Each of the series will be released through ENFTEE.
